reepy Nights on Calamo

2005 Halloween stats:

Halloween in our neighborhood is a mere shadow of its' past. Only a handful of houses within a mile of us even bothered to put up ANY Halloween decorations, and houses are spread out enough that we get NO TOT foot traffic. Combine that with the fact that we're not on a major roadway nor did we advertise at all, we've been pretty happy with our TOT results. From only 1 TOTer 3 years ago, to 15 TOTers 2 years ago, to 30 last year, to 64 this year - all by word of mouth, or from motorists that did pass by our house earlier in the month. The latter being a surprising number considering the late start we got this year. Though we had the graveyard setup by the first weekend in October, we didn't get the LARGE props setup until sundown on Saturday October 29th! Difficulties with the electric motor for the flying witches, frequent rain, and late delivery of some of the props we ordered kept us working feverishly right up to the LAST minute! And though we got the fog machines setup that Saturday, I didn't have time until Sunday to build the homemade fog-chiller we used in the graveyard (though it DID turn out great!). The full show was running in the front yard by Sunday night (torches, fog, flame projector, and flying witches) and by Monday night, I actually had a few minutes to take some photos before getting "dressed" for zero-hour.

I did have to postpone the implementation of a couple other "props" I had in mind (including the 3d floating projected head we used last year), but we WILL be ready NEXT year!

He IS. And the kids loved it... Except the ones that dropped their candy running away :-)
