HauntCon Convention 20
11

This was the first year we've attended the HauntCon Convention. HauntCon was held in Louisville Kentucky this year and since we had relatives in the area we decided to make the trip.

HauntCon moves around the country each year. They seem to cater more to pro haunters than home haunters; we noticed many folks that had traveled from other countries to come to the show; but very few other couples. They had quite an assortment of haunt tours - but didn't warn us that there would be no food breaks!

The trade show floor was slightly smaller than the National Haunters show floor (the only one I can compare with) and the only booth there with anything that interested us enough to buy was Froggy's Fog. They were showing off Sinister Scents; something I'd read about but really needed to see (smell) for myself. Sure enough they had samples and they were AMAZING (and POTENT!). We picked up two small vials - enough to scent 2 gallons of fog fluid each. The other booth I was excited to see was EFX-TEK since I use their controllers in all my animated props. Not only were Jon and John there, but I got to attend their "Advanced Programming for the PROP1 controller" class and picked up some great tips. I also managed to catch Jon afterwards and got even more advice on some issues I've been having with uMP3 sound boards!

Pictures from the Costume Ball:

There were no costume contests at this ball - and only boxed pizza and Miller Lite were included in the cost - but the DJ did a great job and people danced till closing time!

That was us. And now everyone else:

The Hearse show:

Sunday morning the fancy rides were all out in force (though only about 6 plus the Zombie Army bus). It was drizzling but the vehicles were impressive.

The Zombie army folks drove down from Chicago in this very cool converted bus.
